Volunteer with Canines for Change
Volunteers are at the heart of our mission. Whether you're brushing dogs, helping on weekends, or raising a puppy, your time helps us care for dogs in training and prepare them for the people who need them most.
By giving just 1–2 shifts a month, you help keep things running smoothly—for our dogs, our staff, and the entire community we serve.
*All new volunteers must attend orientation and complete one supported shift before signing up independently.
Ways to Help
-
Dog Enrichment
Brush, cuddle, or walk dogs to support calm, confident behavior. Volunteers also help with toys, puzzles, and may assist with training as they gain experience.
-
Facility Care
Help with kennel cleaning, laundry, dishes, organizing supplies, and deep cleaning to keep the training center clean, safe, and running smoothly.
-
Weekend Support
Support busy weekend shifts by helping with enrichment, volunteer check-ins, basic cleaning, and welcoming new or visiting volunteers.
-
Creative & Admin Help
Assist with photos, social media content, or simple admin tasks like organizing files and prepping materials for training or events.
-
Special Projects
Pitch in for seasonal cleaning, supply drives, or one-time tasks that help us improve our space and support more dogs and handlers.
-
Group Volunteering
Bring a team of 5–10 people for a scheduled project or clean-up day. We’ll coordinate a hands-on opportunity that fits your group.
-
Puppy Raising
Open your home to a service dog in training. We provide support and supplies as you help build their early skills and confidence.

NOTE: If it’s been over a year since your last shift (and fewer than 10 hours logged), you’ll need to attend orientation again before volunteering.
