Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Canines for Change! Volunteers are essential to our work providing life-changing facility and service dogs.

Current Volunteers: All current volunteers must be scheduled for a volunteer shift before volunteering. Current volunteers can access the login screen here.

We apologize, but Canines for Change does not provide for short-term volunteer service, court-ordered community service, or restitution.

Adult Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must attend a volunteer orientation
  • Background check through ICHAT (to ensure the safety of our dogs, volunteers, staff, clients, and others)
  • Pay the $25 program fee (done during orientation registration) to cover the cost of volunteer supplies

Minor Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must attend a volunteer orientation with a parent/guardian
  • Must be in order to complete volunteer hours as a requirement for something (example: National Honor Society) other than court-ordered community service or restitution
  • Pay the $15 program fee (done during orientation registration) to cover the cost of volunteer supplies

Past Volunteers

If you have previously attended a Canines for Change volunteer orientation and have not volunteered for at least 10 hours in the previous 12 months, you must attend another volunteer orientation before volunteering again.

How to Volunteer

To become a volunteer, you must pre-register and attend an orientation. A program fee of $25 for adults (18+) and $15 for minors (16-17) is due at the time of registration and allows us to provide your volunteer t-shirt, name badge, and general printed material without taking money away from the care of our dogs. Program fees are non-refundable. As seats are limited in each class, we are unable to reschedule missed orientation sessions more than once. Orientation will provide the necessary information to schedule volunteer shifts and will explain more about volunteering for Canines for Change.
