Canines For Change has been a huge contribution to the Hayes Intermediate building and community. “Sheldon” is the facility dog at Hayes and is loved by all students and staff at Hayes. Sheldon is a hit in the hallways with the students, they also get super excited when he comes into their classroom. At the end of the day when the students are dismissed, staff members meet to play and interact with Sheldon, which helps morale and energy within the school. Providing facility dogs in Grand Ledge has been the best emotional support program that I have seen implemented in my 22 years of teaching, it is amazing for everyone involved.
